Astilbe Perennials
Astilbe is part of the "saxifragaceae" family and is cultivated by gardeners as a hardy herbaceous perennial.Ideal for a damp border or pond side where it will produce lush filigree foliage and magnificent feathery spikes.The soft feathery plumes of the Astilbe come in shades of white, pink, red and lavender, while the foliage is fernlike and comes in shades dark green or reddish green.
The Astilbe prefers to be planted in light shade with moist well drained soil which is on the acid side with plenty of organic matter mixed in.The Astilbe perennial looks best as a large group but even if you only buy one plant you'll be able to divide it up into a few pieces in a year or two and replant back into the border as a group.
