The Allium 'Drumsticks', 'Allium sphaerocephalon', a fall planted ornamental onion bulb, produces beautiful crimson-purple flowers. It has showy, deep purple - crimson florets form large oval flower clusters atop sturdy stems. It is striking in the mixed border or rock garden, especially with yellow daylilies. The blooms are pleasantly fragrant and this plant is an easy and prolific addition to the garden. These plants are rabbit, squirrel, and deer resistant. Drumsticks has a bloom period of about 3 weeks and they bloom in late spring to early summer.
